hello,

I am looking for a pedodontist in the Levittown/Wantagh/Merrick area( or in any area near Levittown) for my 3.5 yr old daughter...It will be a general check-up...she doesnt have any dental issues...I did search on the forum and came up with kiddsmiles.com in Merrick and going by their website I liked them( and my insurance delta dental covered them)....But unfortunately the Merrick office will open only in January 2012...

Any recommendations would be very helpful...

Thanks!!

I went to Dr. Henry Maccaro in Williston Park. Funny guy, cheery beautiful facility with a fish tank. It may be a little out of your location range but def recommend.

I am very partial to kiddsmiles. I've shared this story before, but my daughter had some very bad experiences when she was about 5. She had a baby root canal, and the dentist was in a hurry. The doctor did not give the novacain time to work. It was very difficult to get her to any dentist, and she needed some dental work. I took her to kiddsmiles, and she felt so comfortable. She was about 6 at the time. Unfortunately, my daughter had to have extensive dental work, due to me putting it off because of her fear. It was all taken care of in one visit(with an anthesiologist). When my daughter was 8 or 9, she needed an extraction. The assistants and doctors were very patient. They give the child "sweet air" until they are comfortable, then they swoop in and quickly remove the tooth. Good strategy. My daughter didn't feel a thing. It gets quite busy, but I have always been pleased. She is no longer terrified of the dentist. I went to the one in North Babylon. Since I had one visit to the one in Holbrook, but I prefer North Babylon. Good luck.
