Really impressive pics/commentary and many of them are what the poster called "private" and not available on Google Earth, etc.! He also said he submitted some of the pics and things he noticed to Suffolk Crimestoppers. Toward the end of the thread are shown houses near where they are currently seaching, including Hackett's.

Also towards the end of "NY-LI 10 bodies found on Beach-Poss. SrlKlr-12/10-4 id'd; more found 3/11 #12" there are GREAT photos of what the terrain actually looked like near where they found Shannan's belongings and the poster wrote, "Don't buy that wandering story for a second. This is a photo of the actual terrain they are searching right now; And here is another photo of the wetlands up close; Anyone still think that SG removed her pants and ran through this area barefoot??"

I never saw that site before -- thanks!

Great pic of the guy working his way through the brush. There's no way Shannan removed her pants and shoes to run through that -- much less be able to run through it at all.

Someone posted something about a bone being found?

About 9:30 a.m., investigators took an item that resembled a bone from a muddy area around a drainage pipe near a parking lot. They placed the item in a paper bag. They did not immediately comment on the find.

Per News 12:
Quote:
Suffolk Police Commissioner Richard Dormer has announced that investigators believe they have discovered the skeletal remains of missing New Jersey woman Shannan Gilbert in the Oak Beach area more than a year after her disappearance.
Quote:
The remains were located northeast of where Gilbert's belongings were found.
Quote:
Dormer says homicide squad members located the remains while on an amphibious machine in the thick brush. The remains were located on the surface.

Investigators say the area where the remains were found is impossible for anyone to navigate through.

The location of the remains, found one-quarter mile northeast of Gilbert's personal belongings, are "indicative of her trying to make it to the Causeway

What is it gonna be? Was she killed and dumped? Or did she die while trying to flee? (And if it's a whole skeleton, flee pantsless and shoeless!)

Makes sense to me.

She was trying to flee and was trying to head towards the lights on the road...but entered an area in which there was no way out.

Of course the obvious question is: how did she die?

But her pants and shoes were 1/4 mile away from the body.

Is it reasonable that she removed them as they got stuck in the muck and tried to push onward towards the road?
