I'll be visiting LI and I believe that by the time I get there, it will be time for my oil change due to mileage. Where is the most honest place to go to? I own a Toyota, so I am open to going to a dealership if there are good Toyota places on the Island.
and how long are you going to be up here that you have to do the oil change? There is no magical mileage number that is going to make your car drop dead if you don't do an oil change at that moment.

Just go back home and get it done there.
yes I agree why can't it wait untill you get back? My husband changes my oil and we do not change it exactly on time. sometimes it's 2 weeks later . Also I have my oil changed every 2,000 miles.
I change mine every 5K and will be at that point when I visit next week. It is another 900 miles or so until I get home, putting me at close to 6K between changes, so I thought I'd get it done up there. I'll only be there for a day, so considered a Jiffy Lube type place, but not sure if there is a reputable one on LI, or if I am better off making an appointment with the local Toyota dealer.
Because that's what my husband prefers to to do and since he's in the auto parts business he's always changed it every 2,000. you can go longer but he does not recommend it.
I used to have a Toyota-supra, took it to the dealer on the southshore near Amityville. There service was the bad, never went back. Now I have a Nissan with a 100k bumper to bumper warranty - everything is done at the dealer.
Agree only 2000 miles is on the light side of changing the oil.
It also depends on the kind of driving you do everyday and the type of oil. My car takes 5W20
