My mom went shopping the other day and the worker at the register told her that the Macy's would be closing for renovation in March 2012 and they would not be open again until early 2013.
What could they be doing that would take that long? It's a clothing store for pete's sake!
In an effort to best serve the Long Island community, Macy’s has announced that a new two-level, 200,000 square foot store will replace the existing store at Westfield South Shore.
The current Macy’s store is scheduled to close in March 2012 for razing, with construction scheduled to begin shortly thereafter on the new store which will open in the fall of 2013. Please check back frequently for project updates.
That mall hasn't been any good since my friends and I used to ride our bicycles around it before it was enclosed and the Blue Laws were in effect. Heck..I remember going into Hills grocery store biting the end of italian bread and turning it around in the wrapper so it looked fine.
I was in that Macy's last month to do some xmas shopping, it definitely looks straight out of 1977. I'm guessing this is less of a remodel than a complete gut and rebuild.

You have forever changed the way I will view Italian bread. It never really suited me to have an end exposed but I simply said, well it has been that way forever, it can't be a problem. Stop being too skeevy. I will now check every loaf!!!
