Don't be bullied by peer pressure. You know what you can afford and in today's economy that's a serious consideration. Take all the suggestions made seriously and call around and get some quotes.
I don't need one. This Irish/Czech married a 100% Italian girl who has three different sauces/gravies/marinara that are equally incredible. She makes a Marsala to die for and my 38" waist is proof. We do though like to trek into the Manhattan to dine at one of Lidia's restaurants because she is my bride's idol. We even got to meet her briefly a couple years ago. Our favorite is Becco.
Tried Becco this past December and it was fantastic. All you can eat pasta and $25 wine list are unbeatable in Manhattan.
I've had two events at Domenico's Levittown. Price is right, food is very good. The cake comes from Dortoni bakery next door. There's also a florist next door too that you can order balloons and flowers from. The only real draw back is there's no privacy. There will always be people from other parties coming into your room and crossing through your affair. If you have the mindset of it's a nice dinner out in a restaurant, not an "affair" it will work nicely for you.
