Im a 3v Grad/Rocky Point Homeowner

Heres a quick overview.

Lake Grove is Nice/MuchTraffic (by the mall etc) Village Tax/Town of Smithtown I believe.
Seatuket is Beautiful/And Priced Accordingly/No real town
St James is Beautful too/Town of Smithtown/Pricey
Centereach is fair/Cheapest of the lot:Much Much Trafic
Stony Brook is Great/Diverse but affluent because of the School/My favorite of the lot.
Port Jeff Fun Beautiful/Great Downtown/Lower Taxes due to the LIPA plant/Higher Cancer rates
Miller Place/More of an area than a town/Good Schools/High Taxes/Cancer Rates

Google Cancer Maps LI

Check out the thread.
"Is it really a great district if a kid is in the woods getting high"

I wouldnt shy away from Smithtown-Nesconset to the West and Rocky Point-Shoreham/WR to the East.

Also, this is a long list .
Id suggest narrowing down what you like ....then start a thred about the town youre most interested in and ask particulars.

Best

High cancer rates do concern me. Do you know what the speculation of why this is for those areas you listed?

Any other comments on Smithtown. I have to do what you said about googling.

LIPA plant me thinks.
Check the cancer maps...theres a bullseye over Poquott.

For Miller Place the Mc Mansions are all on Farms/Pesticides etc.

For East Setauket its Terminal Road/Aka Belle Meade rd.

Ironically BNL in Upton/Ridge and Shoreham have lower cancer rates.

Hmmm.

As for Smithtown...check out Island Trees/Lower Taxes due to Industrial Park in Hauppauge but check the cancer maps there too.

Perhaps post a link for the board.
