Molloy College would spend $6 million to upgrade and resurface (with turf) village fields at the Skelos Complex and the Lister/Bligh/Pette string of parks south of Sunrise Highway. Some of the fields would be upgraded to NCAA standards for college use.
Would be exciting for the youth leagues that play there. As someone who plays at Lister Field fairly frequently in adult leagues, I just hope the private non-RVC leagues don't lose their permits.
They will need to share with Molloy College, the county was going to go the same way at Bay Park but the county turned it down due to lack of county funds. The County, villages, state recreation fields belong to the people, they should not be selling them to outside interests.
The "Skelos Field" was a sweet deal for the RVC residents, Skelos & Pataki acquired them from what was NYS Park Land, sodded them, ripped up the sod and put in synthetic turf, mostly paid for by NYS taxpayer funds. They kicked out the soccer players that used the previous field.
