Default exodus from Long Island - r u thinking of gettinog out of here too

God..I grew up here, but I am really really really wanting to leave.

I have a little Levitt house.. too small for the family I plan on growing... and i pay $3300 month mortgage!! EEKK..

Everythings too expensive.. taxes, car insurance, health insurance... we pay so much more..

No more family left here.. so why stay and struggle just to get by.. No quality of life.. who has time to stop and smell the roses when you have to come up with $6000 / month just to cover housing, utilities and transporation costs!

I envision a place where ican get a house that's twice the size of mine for 1/2 the price on 3x's the land.. I know it's out there.

Anyone else thinking of making that exodus!!! Post here and let us know where you are thinking of going.

Me.. either Calvert County, MD or Lancaster County PA

Oh God, please read this forum first. 1/2 this forum is people complaining about how crappy LI is, how expensive, how crowded, how rude, how crappy crappy crappy. Look at some threads and they'll be more than enough people to commiserate with.

Take it easy, I'm just saying that this topic has been beat to a pulp and there are a number of threads where it has all come together.

Goodness TristansMommy, how could you even think of leaving the beaches, the proximity to NYC, the pizza? I left and have been stuck with low taxes, good schools, a nice house and excess cash after paying off the monthly bills. Trust me, you don't want to move.

Richmond VA, back when there was a housing shortage, before the original LI settlers, sold the cape cod, packed up and headed out.

NY62, Sounds like a touch of panic in your post. I mean you can do better than resorting to stereotypes about the South. And nothing says high class like a Longuyland accent. LOL

No panic at all my friend ,I really went to these places. I wanted to move to florida for the sun and fishing 12 months a year . but it is to damn expensive now, I would rather pay more for a house then 3500 a year for insurance. that is rediculous.
