Default For things to do on Lawn Guyland …

For things to do on Lawn Guyland, here are three sites that also offer weekly eMail newsletters: LongIsland.com, About Long Island NY and Life On Long Island; and, here's what could be the best site: Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau and Sports Commission.

And, li4kids, is especially for the kinder.

How old are your kids? What about geocaching??? It is bascially a treasure hunt using GPS. You can go online to find the coordinates. If you navigate correctly you will uncover a treasure. You must leave something behind if you take something from the "treasure chest". I know there are a few things hit in Blydenburg.

we did a LOT of day trips when my daughter was little. These were among our favorites.

Sands Point Preserve: www.sandspointpreserve.org

If you leave Long Island The Bronx Zoo is about an hour's drive and is open year round:
www.bronxzoo.com

About 45 minutes from the Throgs Neck Bridge in CT - Norwalk Aquarium (was my daughter's favorite place to go when she was younger and now at 20 it's still her favorite Aquarium): www.maritimeaquarium.org

We went to the Art Museum in Roslyn when my daughter was about 8. We found it to be boring unless you kids are really really interested in Art. Plus the people who work there were very snooty

Better ideas for Museums that are fun and interactive are the Children's Museum (someone already mentioned) and if you go into Queens - the Flushing Meadows Hall of Science www.nysci.org.

Also the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria (great museum with interactive hands on things): www.movingimage.us

As I said - we did lots and lots of day trips
