This might be just a rather large coincidence but what are the odds, the legislators vocal opinion and then both the huusband and wife get pulled over.

"Legis. Howard Kopel (R-Lawrence) worries aloud that Nassau police have targeted him for supporting precinct realignment. He said he was pulled over two weeks ago in Hewlett for allegedly changing lanes without signaling. The officer recognized his name and let him go, Kopel said. "He said, 'You're not a friend but I'll throw you some courtesy this time.' "
Last week, his wife, Esther, was ticketed for passing a stop sign, which she denies, after he says the officer said, "Your husband is no friend of ours."

I saw that one too. Maybe they keep a list of the license plates of everyone who "is not a friend."

Who knows what's been happening to Mangano behind the scenes to suddenly make him want to play Santa Claus to the tune of $320K retirees (on top of 6 figure pension and free benefits for life).

I bet this is the only place in the entire WORLD where cops who graduated 13th and 14th grade are compensated better than small to medium corporate executives and business OWNERS.

I wouldn't find it hard to believe that they did in fact fail to signal and fail to stop at a stop sign. Both are extremely common down in the 5T area.

Can't argue with that.

But it's strange how out of ALL the people who do that ALL the time in the 5 Towns both him and his wife get pulled over ... within a week.

I am not questioning that it couldn't happen, but to begin with moving violations are fairly rare. A legislator and his wife pulled over in the same week with precinct closure on the table for the republicans, seems like they hit the trifecta.

As do I. It's pretty well known that the PBA incites their members to "play games". Anyone who thinks this is just a coincidence is either 1) an SCPD or NCPD officer or a family member or 2) needs to think harder. This is so obvious even Ray Charles could see it ...

Remember when Levy took the SCPD off Sunrise and the LIE back in 2008? Well for weeks afterwards off duty SCPD officers would purposely speed on the Expressway and Sunrise and then act like jackasses when a SCSO deputy sheriff pulled them over. Oh and then there was the incident where they verbally harassed a female deputy sheriff at her relief point. The SCPD also made it a point to refuse to offer "courtesy" to family members of deputy sheriffs.

The NCPD and SCPA PBAs are basically an organized crime group ... they control politics with their votes and campaign donations.
