Do you think you'll get off that dead end lol you better seriously take a good long look
if there's any large threat occuring in Manhattan right now, NOBODY on LI is getting off. Tell me you're just sensationalizing, because living life with that mindset is outright comical.
Personally I love going all the way out east especially on the north fork but if I had to live there 12 months out of the year, it is a little far from grocery shopping and everything else. As a second (summer vacation)home or a retirement home it would be great. For someone that doesn't work all the way out there it might be a little too much especially considering gas prices.
If I found a job out there and could afford to move there I would do it in a heartbeat. I hate NYC so being far away from it wouldn't bother me, as I'm sure is the same for the people who live there year round. The only thing my husband and I need is a job and a place to live. We typically spend our time out to eat or going bowling so the quiet lifestyle wouldn't bother us one bit.
The east end is really nice and scenic I have at times thought about living out there it's very peaceful there but agree with the summer traffic part I think that mainly applies to the south fork, I think the north fork does not get as much traffic
My boss lives in aquabogue . It takes him an 115 min to drive to work. He says his taxes are cheaper. I still don't under stand why he lives that far out though. he makes prob about $115 - $130k a year.

My friend lives in Aquebogue on a private road which her husband's family has owned for generations. They've sold off some of the land to others who've built homes. Their taxes (considering they have to pay for their own road upkeep) are not cheap by any means. The peace and quiet, when they are home, is another story.
