Default How to rent a house in Nassau County?

I need to rent a house at Great Neck, Jericho, or Syosset for a family of 5. Does anybody know how to start searching? Any websites for house rentals in LI? Do I need an agent? How much should I pay?

Many thanks!

Any rental you find listed on MLSLI will require a payment of 1 month's rent as a fee. In a few instances, the fee is 10% of the annual rent, which is a slightly higher amount than 1 month's rent.
Also, all rentals on MLSLI are listed by an agent, so even if you don't have your own, an agent will be involved and the full fee is due upon lease signing.

Thanks. Any other resources? It's me, not the house owner, that pays the agent?

^^^ Yes you pay. I think your other option is craigslist or the Pennysaver.

You can look in newsday or Find Real Estate, Homes for Sale & Houses for Rent on REALTOR.com - Realtor.com® or MLSLI.com

They also have listings on craigslist.
