Just to let you know that if you are selling a car in the Town of Brookhaven they are giving out tickets.

The reason ; if your car/truck is parked less than 100 ft from a street with a for sale sign ; they are giving tickets that begin at $75. Even if you own the property that your car/truck is parked on!!

It is a relatively unknown ticket.

Can you tell I got one!!

Cute! Within 100'? I'd have to park it in my neighbor's yard behind me.

I understand if it was on a public road, but seriously? 100ft? I should be able to park my car on my own driveway with a FOR SALE sign. How is this illegal?

Where's our CD resident attorney?

Writing a ticket is one thing - collecting is another.

This is an old obscure law. The way to get around it is to shoe polish your window with a phone number and car's year but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES use the words "For Sale".

Well I guess they are clamping down on everything they can do to earn money for the county. Yes, the truck was on my own property, and not in anyones way.

I parked the truck on the front of the property on Thursday 15th, ticket was written on the 17th and I saw it yesterday (it is a vacant property owned by me and due to close next week). The truck was on the driveway. So I went to the town today and the gal at the desk said you cant be 100ft from the street with a for sale sign on it. Now most properties are less than 100 ft from the street. I even saw a car parked on the service road of the LIE today with a for sale sign on it.

It is really getting ridiculous at this stage. Oh but let the squatters break into this property and just give them a court to return to.....

Seriously? What a crappy thing to do. Write it off as a lesson learned and pay up, man.

100 feet??? My car would be in my neighbors back yard, wait... that would be less than 100 feet to the other road..... Who comes up with these idiotic laws?

And people wonder why some of us won't buy property here. Has nothing to do with money and everything to do with hassle.
