can anyone recommend a soccer league for young kids (mine are 3 and 5) in southeast Nassau that has actual games? we did the wantagh/seaford soccer club over the winter and it was more instructional as opposed to actual games. I'd rather just let them play in a game setting and run wild even if they don't know what they're doing as opposed to learning toe taps and dribbling to cones for an hour. thanks!

There's the Franklin Square Raiders Soccer club but they start at 5 y/o. They do play and travel. You may want to check them out http://www.fsraiders.com/default.htm

Elmont also has a soccer club and they actually play games as well Excellence Is The Standard - Elmont Youth Soccer Club

Quite a bit of information on "back of the net", you can start a post if you can't find the info.

I would stay away from some of the soccer companies that require large fees for that age group, actually for any age group.

Levittown Soccer Club. Snoopy division. 1st 20-30 mins drills of some sort, basic skills. Then 30 minute scrimmage/game. It's mostly everyone attack the ball. Good luck trying to have either full 1 hr games or 1 hr drills. 3-5 yr olds attention spans dry up quickly and mixing it up is the only way it works. I coached. It's no picnic but the scrimmages are pretty fun and funny to watch.

what would you consider to be a large fee for this?

Assuming you could find a league for this age group I would not pay more than $50.

Ha. NOTHING for kids is less than $50 bucks anymore. Levittown runs 2 seasons that are combined I think for $150. Sept-Nov (fall) and Apr-June (spring). The price covers both seasons. My sone is not in that division anymore so my pricing mught be inaccurate. Google Levittown Soccer Club for current info.

My response was for 1 season, a little over the top for a 3-5 year old to devote to soccer, or any sport for that matter but that's an argument for another thread.

My "HA" wasn't directed at you, just the insanity of what we pay for all these kid activities! Even the PAL stuff is $50-$100 and up now and they will sign up way too many kids to even be functional. Karate, soccer, music, etc. You're right though, it's for another thread...lamenting little kids not playing in the neighborhood anymore. I'm as guilty as the rest at keeping them behind the PVC fencing.
