Do you have children? If so, would recommend you go visit the schools in each area. Both are good. Flower Hill tends to have larger properties with bigger yards, and also larger taxes! Take a look at Plandome as well. We just found a house in Munsey park and really love Munsey Park elementary. Very nice area.

Munsey Park is better than Flower Hill if you are comparing the same size lot and school district. The north side of Munsey Park is better than the south side of Munsey Park. The section east of Manhasset Woods Rd is better than the western side of Manhasset Woods Rd. Hope that answers your question!

Once again, please read the "How to Use the Ignore Feature" post that keeper wrote. It would be so much easier than this constant bickering back & forth.

I live in the area. what specifically would you like to know? feel free to PM me.

As noted, flower hill is broken into three school district which is important for both resale & if you have kids. Also the style of houses are diff. imo...with munsey being more traditional old fashion housing.

Both areas are usually not very walkable to the LIRR. Decent chance you may need to drive & park at the Manhasset LIRR station (for a fee). There is no easy cutout of a north, south, east, west, etc that is more desirable. I don't agree with manhasset hills1 that east of manhasset woods rd is "better". Its major advantage is close to the LIRR station maybe. I do think the north of Munsey tends to be more secluded & have very large houses.

Hubby used to teach in Manhasset. He preferred the Shelter Rock Elementary to Munsey Park Elementary as far as schools go. Liked the way the curriculum was done (not everything is the same between the two buildings), mostly due to principals and a few teachers.

The area we were actually looking at is west of Manhasset Woods Rd and is kinda of south, closer to Northern Blvd. Do they consider areas "bad" in Munsey? We spent a lot of time driving around the neighborhood and those homes are still pricey and look beautiful. Is there a stigma with the southern part?

I don't live in the area, but I have certainly never heard of anywhere there being described as stigmatized. I think you are worrying a little too much.

I've been eyeing properties in Munsey Park and Flower Hill ever since I moved to Port Washington for the upgraded home after my family out grows our current home. I can’t say I am some sort of neighborhood expert but been to enough open houses to speculate why someone would buy.

Like what people have stated, the most secluded and potentially desirable areas would be the most north section of Munsey Park with the largest lots of land while still within the Manhasset school district.

Never heard of a bad section of either areas. Maybe if you happen to be on a corner lot, near the LIRR rails, port washington blvd, the commercial properties lined on Northern Blvd, or maybe one of the shortcuts people use to bypass parts of Northern blvd to avoid traffic (Manhasset woods rd and park ave comes to mind.)

The most bang for your $$$ would be in the port washington section of Flower Hill. Slightly cheaper. Homes may not be as refined as Munsay Park, but they tend to be mostly 5+ bedroom homes on a good sized lot. Oh course, the reason why they may not be as desirable is because they don't have the charm of the Munsey Park zoning laws, the draw of the Manhasset school district, and you are further out from anything. I don't really include the Rosyln sections of Flower Hill in my searches because that means a different school district, with smaller size lots, and potentially a different LIRR trains.

there are no "bad" areas of munsey, only not so great people. I am personally not a fan of some people who reside throughout manhasset or even the greater LI. Unless you are bother by a homes worth million to a few millions..then again there are houses out there worth 8 figures. I don't dwell on this. If there is really a stigma, then these are people I don't care to associate with.
