We're looking to buy a home in Manhasset north of Northern Blvd (so we don't have to cross a busy road to get to the train). We are specifically looking at Flower Hill and Munsey Park. I was wondering if anyone could give me guidance to specific areas within those two places to either recommend or avoid.
Those are pretty good choices that you are considering. I think there are some homes in Flower Hill that are listed as Manhasset but which are Port Washington school district. That's the only thing I can think of. Otherwise, if you're concerned about the train, just consider overall proximity.

Flower Hill and Munsey Park are villages and, while part of the Greater Manhasset area, are not part of the Hamlet of Manhasset because in New York State a village can not be part of a hamlet and vice versa.

Depending where a property is located in the Village of Flower Hill, that property could be in either the Manhasset Union Free School District, the Port Washington Union Free School District or the Roslyn Union Free School District.
Also, Flower Hill is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the community name as part of their mailing address: places in the Village of Flower Hill have a "Roslyn, NY 11576", "Manhasset, NY 11030" and "Port Washington, NY 11050" mailing address.
In addition to no major changes in Village Law, I'm using official maps from the Nassau County Planning Commission that has the sole authority to publish these official maps and these maps are accepted and used by the U.S. Census Bureau.
I guess my more specific question isn't Munsey vs. Flower Hill, it's more a recommendation of streets within those areas. Is the north side more desirable than the south? East or west? Things like that.

Both are upper income municipalities.
The Village of Munsey Park has some of the severest zoning restrictions of any village on Long Island.
According to Wikipedia:
All homes in the village conform to colonial architecture, built with only the finest construction materials "above and beyond" normal building standards
The village maintains strict building and zoning ordinances which preserve the character of the village essentially "as built".
In my opinion, the one downside in the Village of Flower Hills is that the Village of Flower Hill suffers from community cohesion as it is within the service area of 3 separate school districts, let alone 3 separate ZIP Code postal zones.
Walter, very good point about Flower Hill not having that cohesion because of the 3 school districts. Never thought of that. I'd be curious if anyone had any insight into the different areas of Munsey.
