100% of dealing with them is ending access. Patch holes or fill with steel wool, cover garbage cans, etc. Like someone said, trim back branches. They are opportunists. If they can get in they will, if they can't they move on. If they are in the trees, mind your business, that's where they belong.

Can you tell us how much they charged for the entire job? I thought I had a squirrel in my house and the prices I was got were from $300 - $650 just for removal of the squirrel.

I paid $800 to Arrow Exterminating. Just for the trapping, removal and covering up of any hole. I didnt have a hole in the roof or eaves. They got in from a busted screen on an old attic fan. They do not do those type of repairs.

I called around and some places wanted $650 plus $50 per animal. Arrow was a flat rate with a 6 month guarantee

I called the roof guy who checked and told me that vent pipe has a cover which was ripped, squirrel must be coming from that. I got that fixed. Also he told me to kill the squirrel buy Tuna which $1.29 and mix with antifreeze.
I did that, it's working. I don't see squirrel like before. I still see one or two. I have to buy more Tuna. :-)

Aside from the self-defeating possibility of squirrels and other critters dying in your walls and creating an unholy smell you will never forget, and the ant problems you will create, you might want to check the legality of such an inhumane and irresponsible form of animal control. If birds find their way to it and eat it, you've broken a federal law, never mind state.

There's a squirrel nest in a tree in my neighbor's backyard. I'm thinking it's better to leave that alone rather than destroy it and have them build a nest in my house. One had crawled into my hood for months (another thread on that), but apparently it was only the pregnant mother looking for warmer shelter. Once I removed her and the babies, the others have stayed away, in the nest up in the tree.
