My backyards was completely overgrown when I bought my house and I basically let everything die since we moved in. We need do something about it for my daughters b-day party coming up in June. I know we are cutting it close. Is it best to sod or seed?? Either way I need to have my yard leveled since there are craters everywhere and I don't want people tripping. I'm not sure if that would change anything.

What would be best? Anyone know any landscapers in Nassau for this type of work? I also need some small trees removed.

My property is 75 x 100. Any idea of cost estimate for this?

I wouldn't invest in a sod lawn unless you put sprinklers in first.

If you plan on having a party in June, you better sod. That new grass grown if you seed won't survive a party so early. Sod is expensive though.

For the PARTY = Sod but be ready to shell out a LOT of money for property that size. Also consider that you need to make this decision not based upon your party plans but on what you ultimately want. Sure, you want a nice lawn for the yard, understood, but what happens if you go the sod route because of the party and it rains the day of the party? You will have spent a ton of $$$ and you will not be able to use the yard. Seed will do the same job at a far less cost but as noted will not be party ready.

Any idea how long it takes for seed to root enough to be walked/partied on? I've only done small patches not an entire yard.

Party ready? A year. In a month after it comes up, it will be fine with light traffic, but a party will destroy many parts of it.

For the party, seed won't do.

But if you want to get a better idea of cost, etc. check out www.deleasodfarms.com/ They've been around for a long time and have an excellent reputation.
