rocafeller so hanging out drinking is a activity you would want to do over and over like a mindless twit everyday... lol bars and clubs are the same, just different locations and decor
That's some life and people wonder why there are so many DD accidents
There is nothing fun to do on this island, and what may be is very limited.
Point is look at the people here, they don't care about anything fun as long as it doesn't effect them..
The good old days on LI where people would change their own oil and bury it in their backyard. Where DWI was a big joke and the cop would let you sleep it off on the side of the road. Where rival high schools would brawl for fun. Oh the good old days. Thank goodness for evolution.
Why not go bowling, Dave and Busters, Nautical Mile, evening charter boat fishing, go watch the local school sports games, camping, etc.
It seems like you only want to do one thing. Maybe that's the problem. There are many things to do on the island...whether you like them or not is another story.

Go stay a month in the woods upstate and then come tell me there is nothing to do on LI.
If by "woods" you mean the Adirondacks or the Catskills then the camping is excelent and makes for a great weekend.
If by "woods" then you mean there is nothing in upstate, then you are comically misinformed. I grew up on the island and now I live upstate in an actual city. Cities always have a lot to do, and upstate has some pretty solid options.
So yeah...upstates got more going on than long island.

you must have a pretty loose definition of "city".
^^ So camping every weekend is your ticket to a great weekend? Ok buddy.
I camp about 6 times a year. ya I love it, but every weekend and claiming it to be the best since sliced bread, I think not.
All Im saying is I grew up where there was nothing to do. Stores/businesses closed at 7 pm. Nothing opened on Sundays. LI has plenty to do!
I understand where you are coming from. the problem is that you come across as saying that there is nothing to do in the whole of upstate. Clearly, that is a false statement. If you want to talk about a certain area of upstate as lacking entertainment options then that is fine, as Upstate, like long island has its exciting areas and its boring ones.
But to denigrate the whole of upstate as having nothing to do is plain silly.

When I lived in the Buffalo suburbs I had way more things to do than LI, so I'm sorry even upstate is more interesting than LI.
If I were this kid (and boy I wish I was 22 again!) I would leave LI tomorrow! Go to Florida though, California is too pricey and has similar restrictive laws as New York.
St. Augustine is a great little town, he might want to start there. Things are so cheap down there that he could live quite nicely on 40K a year mechanic job. The job market is tough down there, but he has a very in demand skill so he should have no problem getting a job.
I would avoid South Florida as you will run into Long Island like traffic and aggressive people.
