This 10 year-old article tries to make the point that "these thugs may soon be as anachronistic as the Bowery Boys."
Gang Busters
But the thing is that you have the LIE dividing the two neighborhoods, so it's not like it's a super-easy border to cross (And aside from that, I've always considered the area immediately south of the LIE to be Rego Park rather than Forest Hills, but that's just a minor detail)

But the first article mentions Forest Hills High School, which is well....in Forest Hills. But then again, just because there's gang tags doesn't necessarily mean the gang is in the neighborhood itself. You could have the high school students (maybe from Corona) tagging the fence.

I remember on Wikipedia, it mentioned there was a Dominincan gang presence in schools in Greenwich Village. Obviously, we know Greenwich Village doesn't have many Dominicans, so they probably came from areas like Washington Heights and Inwood. It could be the same thing here (Whether it's from neighboring Corona or from across the city). But the question is: How active is the gang on a regular basis (i.e. Outside of school arrival/dismissal times)?

Corona and Forest Hills share a border on the southern side of the LIE. 99 & 108th Streets bring you back and forth under the LIE. Gangbangers do drive cars, take the bus, etc.

Now that I think about it, they mentioned Forest Hills, but they actually didn't mention Corona.

In any case, the sects from Westbury, Jamaica, and Forest Hills call themselves "Coronados", so maybe it means that they're based out of Corona but do some of their activities in those neighborhoods. Either that or it's some kind of ranking system ("Corona" means "crown", so maybe they're a high-ranking sect of the gang)

Yes, Coronado has more to do with their ranking than with the place name, Corona. But who knows -- maybe the place name helped draw them in that direction?

They do this is Washington State. Small towns, half are gang-members. Huge migrant/mexican populations. Come up as FBI high crime due to low number of residents but many gang bangers. They arrest ANYONE who is even remotely closely resmeling gang affilation. I was shokced when i went there, middle of NOWHERE. Really depressing place, along with the REZs.

Gang Busters
One of my fraternity brothers, dropped MS(thats cuz they are much weaker in Sunnyside) before he came to college.

I had plenty of interations with MS-13 in Nassau. I dated a few "cousins" and used to get followed/stalked at my job 24/7. My best friend was also jumped by a group of MS(thought it was me, but he did instigate them though), behind Don Juans(where they shot up that car full of kids). Lucky for him SWP(salvadorian with pride) showed up and then it was a HUGE BRAWL and he ducked out. They are pretty scared when alone, but when they have numbers they go 'loco'. I knew another kid who was lucky he got out, he was "greenlit" but they just messed him up real good and told him never to show his face again. Also seen them key MS-13 into people cars.

Even in my nice, middle class school, Gangmembers or 'wannabes' came thru from the other side of town(New cassel) or stayed with relatives in the "country" as they call it. Bloods, LK etc. Lots of 'cliqs' start when for example a "XYZ blood" comes out and props up his cousin/brother w/e.

Did they call each other up that morning like teenage girls to coordinate their outfits, are was something more nefarious at play?

Yellow(or gold) and black = Latin Kings.
i have seen them before, right at the Smithtown LIRR

Roosevelt Field sees its far share of violenc. I remember once they had about 90 kids around the mall rounded up around those glass staircases, the BK and other walls. There is a police post on the LL. They also have ALOT of undercover security. I found this out when I got into a fake fight with my friend, and about 25 guys escorted us out and told us we could come back the next day.
