Oh Columbia by way of Brooklyn. I also believe one of Harvard's recent valid Victorian grew up in a African refugee camp.

I agree completely with your first paragraph. LI parents these days are very unrealistic with their expectations. If people purchased homes in afforable towns and had one parent stay at home and teach and care for their children from infancy the kids would be much better off.

I am sorry I don't have a LI HS education so sorry if I was not clear. Yes I went to HS in Brooklyn and think somehow I turned out fine.

I agree with both of you. MY wifes cousin just graduated high school early from patchogue medford last year(my father in law is one of 7). She rambled on and on how horrible the high school was yet she got good enough grades to graduate a year early. So the school cant be that bad.

Patchogue-Medford has good teachers. If a student goes there and does their school work and doesn't get involved with the wrong crowd, they can do well....as they can in most schools on LI except maybe for the bottom 5 or so in each county.
It's a question of DEGREE, and what this cousin is probably telling you is that her life was fairly miserable there, probably precisely because she IS a good student in an institution with declining standards and performance, as well as other issues.

Is the score for all schools in the district (grade, middle and HS)? Trying to make a moving decision between Plainview (better school) and Lynbrook (shorter commute to the city). I'm confused why Plainview number is listed for the district and Lynbrook is listed for just the Lynbrook Senior HS.

They're both listed by district, and they're both good IMO. Pick the area you like better for your money.

Love how you are all getting upset because your schools are only in the 70s or high 60s. School I graduated from is 11th from the bottom. 50.

I am as well. I wonder if Glen Cove's cheating scandal will bring to light what's really happening here.
