Very much against this proposal. This will have an extremely negative impact on the pine barrens and sensative wetlands that are only miles away from the site. Pollution (both air and groundwater) and traffic are just the beginning. Meanwhile downtown Riverhead languishes.
Hopefully the Pine Barrens Commision will put a stop to it. I know the Pine Barrens Society (Mr.Amper) used to be very active for stopping these projects, but they have been strangely silent lately about this. Mr.Amper is probably paid off now by developers to be quiet.
If this monstrousity gets built, hiking in Scuttle Hole, Calverton Ponds will never be peaceful. Another reason to pack it up and move off this sandbar I guess.

The contract with the govt laid out how much could be used for IND and ENT, the rest was saved as a reserve for animals and water shed and pine barrens, which is the largest section of property...the rest was 300 for IND and 755 for ENT of which according to the govt's plan they outlined the use was to be or include motorsports since the history of motorsports in the US started on long island, it was also not to have any part of it interfere or compete with splish splash...of which cardinale's bs excuse is that since you need to join the resort it won't be directly competing with splish splash.
The people wanted the Rex corp proposal and the people were ignored.

As matter of fact they plan on continuing with talks for the next year and a half with RR even though 1. the height requirement will never be changed 2. it will not be or change the poor economy 3. will not make RHT the destination point.
The people of RHT voted for the mental patient they got running the town, well there going to be in much greater trouble if they do not demand him to rescind that vote and bring back rex corp...when RR fails what will they do with the property they paid 155 million for...
Common sense.. L.I. is not a ski or ice town...people do not come here for skiing or ice, especially with the meadowlands going to be completing the same thing in a year..
What resort will people join with a ice and snow indoors as it's claim to fame and a huge IND park just a few feet off it's property line...

Over 10k people wrote letters and called the town hall to make sure they were heard...
That 10k was a lot more then the 1400 for the mountain...
Every pole done from news 12 to local poles all across the town and suffolk county were atleast 80% for Rex Corp..so that brings us again to a corrupt miserable useless govt here on long island
Again another prejudiced decision on long island.
Take a look at the last 4 proposals that were trashed for epcal over the last 10 years, you'll find it very prejudiced, just as this one was
The rr deal will not even be what it was as proposed, so you want something that won't be, will be much worse for the environment and will fail as did commack and bald hill...The power it would need if it was built to proposal would be killer, lipa couldn't handle it.
Then when it fails that will open rr to sell the property they bought at 155 mil to someone to build houses there...

Mitch is a very biased reporter, if you want the news of what truly went on you need to see Riverhead times review.

A large number of residents including myself would really rather see the motorsports park there instead. It's sad that it's not going to happen. The only place to race now is Englishtown NJ, Atco NJ or Island Dragway. You have to pay tolls and gas to get to these tracks.
We really need the motorsports park!!!
