Default Who has the best lox (smoked salmon) for the lowest price?

Cosco's lox is just mediocre. Looking for best Nova Scotia lox in north shore of mid Suffolk County for a the lowest price.
Cream cheese and bagels will be another post at another time.

Uh, Plainview is not "pretty close" to the North Shore of Mid-Suffolk County.

Look for Acme outta the package at the supermarket. Straight outta Brooklyn where all good lox and whitefish are born. Retail shop open friday mornings only. They are probably supplying most of the bagel stores and "appetizing" places around the city anyway, but not Costco.

Waldbaums ( middle country Ed in selden) sells it by the lb at the deli. They have both salted ( my favorite) and non and it usually pretty good. They also have per packed whitefish

It really depends on the years salmon supply. Salmon can be very expensive but do to the demand, Waldbaums does usually have SLIGHTLY better prices than most.

Man, I never saw eels. I would have tried those. I went shopping there on friday mornings a couple of times and came away loaded up.
They don't exactly advertize the place or the entrance....

Smoked eels - yummeeeee!!!
Checked their website and nowhere does it say anything about eels. Must have been a fluke (oops, pun there ).
Wish I knew a place where they have fresh smoked eel.... Anyone??

I think the best smoked salmon for the price can be found at Whole Foods. It's labeled Changing Seas and it's $9.99 for an 8 oz. package. It's all natural with no sodium nitrate (like Acme has), and tastes great. Good packaging too that helps you avoid getting the fish oils on your hands. I used to eat Trader Joe's smoked salmon but I have noticed a significant decline in quality (a lot of tough/nasty pieces), so I avoid it now.
