Can any one recommend a great bakery on the south shore?
I'm looking for a bakery that makes great cakes anywhere from Merrick to Lynbrook. Thanks.

Malverne Pastry Shop - Malverne, NY
Malverne Pastry Shop gets consistent stellar reviews. I've been going there the past couple of years and find it really excellent. For holidays they make a triple berry napoleon which is outrageous. All their cakes are really high quality as well.

Dortoni's in Levittown.
For amazing custom character cakes (Food Network quality):
Cakes With Character, Hicksville (I don't know the link, google it). Amazing work at half the price. Not a bakery, just a lady who makes amazing character or wedding cakes, like Ace of Cakes quality.

Mario's in Oceanside. Right on Merrick road , close to RVC border. At Christmas time, the line is around the block!

I second both Front Street in RVC and Malverne Bakery in Malverne. I have also heard good things about Marios in RVC but I don't have personal experience so I can't speak for it. However, I will say you can't go wrong with either Malverne or RVC.
