Not even close. I think I like this lighthouse thing, I'm not completely positive yet. I was kinda hoping it would be the huge 60 story tower and I'd be able to see if from my house though.

60 stories would have been great, but I'll take 2-30's. This is a no-brainer..it will be like the Stamford, White Plains, or Jersey City (kinda) of LI... our downtown. Please, NIMBYs, wake up! I love that all the parking is below ground or in decks..that's how all of LI should be...so much valueable space taken up by fields on nothingness.

Stamford and White Plains are good analogies actually. I think if more people would see it in those terms, and how those cities work well with that type of business infrastructure it might get the support it needs. As for all of the traffic criers...it will not do anything more than is already happening during rush hour (IMO) and if mass transit is done right could alleve some congestion. There is really nothing from a business center standpoint that is commutable by train ON the island. Sure some folks do it everyday, but I am sure they are the rare exception in their office park. Would be nice to see some industry start to take root here in the lighthouse project much like Hedge funds and finance have gone to CT (Stamford, Greenwich).

There's a finance cluster in GC, with a walkable downtown and 2 train stations, but there's not too much else. I really wish people would realize the importance of this type of setup. I mean, do people look around...do they not see what's being done in all the other NY suburbs?

Just wondering, what's the population of those other places? I'd love to live off of a main street of a nice town and walk everywhere, but so do a lot of other people.

Don't know, I was asking for clarification of "do they not see what's being done in all the other NY suburbs?"

Yes, by that I would mean the office and residential development in White Plains, Stamford, Jersey City- much of it 30 story high rises. Also the train-centric and mixed use developments in Jersey, Westchester, etc.
