Wantagh vs Bellmore
Why do you get SO much more for your money in Wantagh over Bellmore? What's the catch?

Can you elaborate?
Which area of Wantagh vs which area of Bellmore.
Don't get me wrong, both Wantagh and Bellmore are very good areas.
Walter- no statistics to share?

they are both really nice -- I was not aware that you are able to get much more in Wantagh...i do know that there are properties in Wantagh that are not in the Wantagh S.D., which accounts for some of the price difference.

I don't think there is that much of a difference between Wantagh and Bellmore? They are both great towns, if there is a price difference in houses, it prob has more to do with the specific size of the house, the condition of the street/house and location.

Could it have anything to with Wantagh not having a downtown?
As mentioned, parts of Wantagh are in a different, lower-performing SD-Levittown.

Everybody keeps saying it here, but I'm not quite sure what makes Bellmore or Wantagh such great towns.

Well compared to where I live, it's a nicer town...you have easy access to major parkways, good stores (Arby's in Bellmore, cute ice cream shops like IDC, etc) and quiet, relatively crime-free streets. They are also very family and community oriented towns. Bedford ave in Bellmore reminds me of cute New England towns with kids eating lollipoops on corners, biking with their parents, and school poster bake sale signs on store fronts..
My neighborhood has nothing but empty storefronts, apathetic neighbors, and not even any cute sit down cafes..

That could depend on what YOU mean by Wantagh and Bellmore?
The Hamlet of Wantagh has a different border than does the "Wantagh, NY 11793" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Wantagh, NY 11793" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Wantagh): those places that have a "Wantagh, NY 11793" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Wantagh are in the Hamlet of Seaford, the Hamlet of Bellmore, the Hamlet of North Bellmore, the Hamlet of North Wantagh and the Hamlet of Levittown.
The Hamlet of Bellmore has a different border than does the "Bellmore, NY 11710" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Bellmore, NY 11710" mailing address and not be in the Hamlet of Bellmore and a place can be in the Hamlet of Bellmore and have other than a "Bellmore, NY 11710" mailing address): those places that have a "Bellmore, NY 11710" mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Bellmore are in the Hamlet of North Bellmore, the Hamlet of Merrick and the Hamlet of Wantagh.

Except the main school in question, MacArthur HS (Levittown and No. Wantagh students) ranked HIGHER (24th) than Wantagh HS (25th) in the last rankings posted on here, which tickled the heck out of us even though it's mostly meaningless.

Lol you consider Arby's good?? Fast food is so disgusting!
Anyway I lived in Bellmore for 26 years but I prefer Wantagh if that tells you anything. And Bedford ave USED to be like that- not so much anymore.
