Hi,

Nice house, remodeled. But no garage and no basement. Garage was turned into living space. If you were to buy a home? would you consider buying this or not? Cars can be parked on the big driveway or on the street. Lot of spaces.

Thanks.

Okay, so say you're okay with not garaging you car, but where would you store all your "stuff"? With no basement it's going to be tough, no?

That's something you have to decide based on your needs and wants. For me, I need one or the other for storage or at least enough storage space within the house such as closets or an attic. Most people don't use their garage to park their car so we keep a lot of stuff in the garage since the basement doesn't have that much storage space.

I agree with Gpsma no basement no garage no deal. My husband needs a garage for all his projects. Basement needed for extra storage and if the house come with an attic that's a bonus. I have all three.

Big Ditto. Workshop in the basement for me (DH is handyman challenged). Also a shop for my stained glass hobby.

Garage for my car. It sucks when you have to shovel the snow off a long driveway to get the car out when it snows. We only have a 1 car and are looking for a 2 in our new home.

Most here use the garage and/or unfinished basement for storage purposes.
You need to have at least one of them for the long term.

You probably will not remember the hardship from shovelling the snow for not being able to use the garage, but.......... you certainly will remember the pain to dream about creative things to improve your in-house storage and the effort it takes to cleanup/organize things ever so often.

And..... as Gpsma pointed out.... you will be at a disadvantage when it comes to sell....
just my 2 cents.

You can always have a nice, sturdy wood shed built in your backyard or driveway to take care of the storage/workshop issues. They have really nice ones at Wood Kingdom that are almost as big as a garage and built to your liking. They're not cheap, but much more affordable than building a garage and will last many years.
