The Lobster Roll aka 'LUNCH' in Amagansett is definitely a good spot for lobster. The second location in Riverhead is on Sound Ave in the Baiting Hollow Commons.
I've bought fresh lobster from PJ Lobster House (one of Lancet's suggestions) and it has always been good. They also offer a steamed dinner of lobster, clams, and corn.
By all means, though, my favorite place is Red's in Wiscasset, ME. I'm heading up there in September -- can't wait!
Young's Lobster Pound in Belfast is my favorite.. pick your lobster, sit on a picnic table and eat away.... Its not about the ambiance, its about the food.
I highly recommend H20 in Smithtown for any seafood. Best cooked salmon I've ever had. I haven't tried their lobster, but I've also never had anything on their menu I didn't like. Warning, it can be as pricey as a good steak restaurant.
oh boy. now you've done it, ohbeehave. red's is THE BEST place. i'd wait in that line all day if need be. have you been to sarah's across the street? go have some haddock chowder there and then eat a roll at red's. PERFECTION.
Yesssss Reds! Lobster roll WITHOUT the mayo! Mmmmmmmm
Went there last year for he first time. Worth the 45 minute wait.

I had been to Sarah's once. Didn't have the haddock chowder, but now have something else to look forward to in September! Woot!

I'll be staying in Northport and hope to make the time to check out Young's. It sounds just like my kind of place
