Default Did not feed the meter at Valley Stream LIRR station..

I parked at Valley Stream LIRR non-resident meter parking this a.m. It’s one of the furthest lots without many cars at 8am this morning. I had to speed walk to the train station and did not feed the meter. I was nervous about running a bit late, and I did not see a sign that indicated how much I should pay for the meter ? I knew I didn’t have 8 hours worth of quarters to put into the meter. I just left without feeding the meter.

This afternoon, I’ll pick up the car around 5:30p. How much is the anticipated ticket going to run me?

Best way is to wait 5 more hours and find out for sure, can range from $0 - $200 with a standard deviation of $30

hahaha! SD sure is $30. It was $35. Not too bad LOL!

Now I know. So, the non-residential meters are 25 cents for 3 hours?

Aren't you closer to Queens Village? I don't recall that lot ever being so full when I worked in the area.

No, I'm closer to Rosedale, but I had a dentist appt promptly at 6pm in Valley Stream, and I needed to make it there on time yesterday without a minute to spare. That's why I parked there.

It wasn't that it was so full. My problem was that there are no apparent directions showing how much to feed the meter/or even if I should feed the meter or buy a ticket to display on the windshield. I wasn't even sure whether my meter was working - it was flashing a black light.

Oh, ok. I thought you were parking there on a regular basis. At least they didn't tow it or put a boot on it lol

I was stupid about it. I should have allowed much more time to figure out the parking. I knew I had never parked there before. If I go to valley stream, my husband usually picks me up. It just cost me $55 including LIRR fare to get to that dental cleaning. New York *sigh*

EVERYTHING about the LIRR confuses me. Which line to take? Which car to go to? Which station to transfer? I've never paid for parking in any LIRR lot in Queens so I would assume that parking is free on LI until hubby pointed out we needed a permit. The closest one by me is Stuart Manor but it holds like 22 cars so I don't bother. I just jump on the bus and go to the subway. It's cheaper and I don't have to worry about paying for parking..or not paying LOL

For all of the bitching us CDers do about LIRR conductors, they DO provide answers when asked, you know.

Also, the MTA does have a website.

Excuse me, but where was I saying anything about the conductors? And who would ever think that only certain car doors open at certain stations? Why not all cars? I found out the hard way that only the 1st 4 car doors open at the Kew Gardens stop going eastbound. Does their website tell you that?
