Seaford school district does not have inclusion either, well at least for kindergarten, which my son who is PDD-NOS will be entering next year. I think an inclusion class would be great for him, who decides if he can be bused to another school for an inclusion class and or what can I do so that he can be.

did you have a CSE meeting on him? At the Commitee on Spec EDmeeting bring up your concerns. His diagnosis is under the autistic umbrella so he should qualify to be classified. You don't say if he received Early Intervention or special ed services for preschool. All those evaluations plus the new ones the school does to determine what his needs will be will all factor in for the decision on what's the best placement. If you all come to an agreement that inclusion is best then they should "cross district' him meaning they will pay another district that has inclusion and send him there.
If you have no background of special ed and his was just diagnosed. Call Seaford School districts Special Ed dept and say you have concerns and want your son evaluated since he has this diagnosis. They will evaluate and decide from the evaluation (with your input) what the best placement will be.....This is how the law states it should be. Depending on administration is why we need to ask the question. Hopefully Seaford will do right by your child and provide him what he needs.

he's been in early intervention since 2yrs. old starting with speech. Now that he is 4 he attends a special ed school 1/2 day and a typical pre-k 1/2 day. So i guess I do have to wait for the CSE meeting to discuss the inclusion class. Anyone out there know which districts near me (seaford) that have inclusion classes?

Try Plainview-Old Bethpage..I heard they have CTT (collaborative team teaching) classes on every grade and I know there are self-contained classes in the kindergarten center as well..yes, they have a center ONLY for kindergarten..good luck!

Farmingdale also has a collaborative program. The district is very good to work with and cooperates wonderfully with parents who are truly interested in getting the best (and appropriate) accommodations for their children.

YOu dont have to wait for the meetings. You can request one. We did a few years ago. I requested a meeting in december for my older son. By Jan he was in an integrated program. It made the world of difference.

what district is this? and when you say integrated what do you mean by that? 1/2 typical 1/2 special ed? that is what i'm ultimately looking for him to be in when he enters kindergarten.
