A teenage girl who had just graduated from Copiague High School was killed when her car was struck from behind by a drunken driver on Montauk Highway in Lindenhurst late Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.
The victim, Brittney Walsh, 18, of Lindenhurst, had been driving home after work and her car was in motion as it was rear-ended in the 10:25 p.m. accident. My neice graduated with her and I found out she was a close friend. My niece is devistated.

What a sad story A sweet young woman, coming home from her summer job making productive use of her summer break before heading to her freshman year at college has her life snuffed out by a drunk. I am so sorry for her family, friends, and community. My sympathies to your niece.

She gets killed and the other driver had minor scratches. Why is it when a drunk driver kills someone they seem to never get really hurt?

sorry to hear that

i served grand jury for 1 solid month for Nassau county some years back. I think we heard over 70 cases in one month. I think about 60-70% of the cases were all DWI cases. 95% of the police officer's testimony is always the same...the 5% are some really outlandish DWI stories. After that, I conclude DWI is the biggest crime in Nassau county bar none

it's been said that the reason is the drunk is usually not all tensed up at the moment their head/body impacts the interior of the vehicle. Apparently ragdolling in there as opposed to being more rigid is supposed to be helpful...?

Brittney had 1104 friends on FB. And ironically she "liked" this movie: http://www.facebook.com/pages/What-h...e/289866098385
