Still rich, fat and drunk. We have LOU REED.(Freeport HS '61) Billy Joel is great at ripping off other people's music and styles.

The Joel - Sprinsteen trade would be a good one, but Bruce would never go for it.

I'm with you. I ripped my CD of his greatest hits to my iPod and discovered half of the "hits" are now unlistenable. Captain Jack though is still a 70's classic.

He was interviewed (in the Hamptons) on News12 last week...basically he said he's not doing anything much at all these days. Yawn.

I guess if you like style over substance I can understand taking Springsteen over joel. Bruce is just cooler. As far as musical talent, writing ability and the whole package Bruce Springsteen doesnt even deserve to be mentioned in the same breathe as Billy Joel. No comparison. Plus Joel put LI on the map, and has raised money for LI causes. What has Springsteen done for LI? You would think Billy berated LI, moved to NC then moved back!

Stopped reading right about there. You're knocking Springsteen while championing the guy who penned the pathetic "walking in the middle of the night" send up on "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", perhaps one of my top 5 most despised pieces of pop music in history.

He's still drinking? Yikes! Not surprising though.

Thank god he hasnt been seen around much! I am not a fan, but while he is talented, he is a complete Moderator cut: language Many years back when working in radio, I met him and Elton John (who I also am not a fan of), Billy Joel was an obnoxious
Moderator cut: language removed and
Elton John, who in my mind is far more talented than Billy and I could see being obnoxious, was totally cool. Even had his photographer take a picture of us, and mailed it to me. Class act, too bad not the same for the local.

I dont know Billy Joels personality traits or really care to.

We have seen him live three times----and he always goes out his way to put on a great show. He is accomadating to the fans---personable live---and he puts on a great two and a half hour show. The last two shows his piano and him spun around, as he explained he wanted the fans in the cheap and obstructed view seats to have a decent view.

He has always been a stellar performer, and has had a great career-----I love Springsteen too----but I will never diss Billy Joel----great performer.
