Wrong. Halesite is not "make believe"... it has it's own post office. Google is your friend.

A previous user was spot on. Let me add on a bit..

North Amityville: Less ghetto version of Wyandanch

North Babylon: Laid-back town with lots of strip malls/food places and mixed schools.

North Bay Shore: An extension of El Brentwood and CI..nuff said.

North Bellmore-Merrick: All-white middle class suburbia. Merrick Woods is beautiful.

North Bellport: Impoverished deep-Suffolk hood

North Hills: Townhouses for rich people and McMansions for even richer people.

North Lindenhurst: Random small cut-through town..why not just leave it as lindenhurst?

North Great River: Large properties near connetquot state park...some better maintained than others. I think it used to be apart of CI?

North Massapequa: More all-white middle class suburbia. Nicer than E.Massapequa but not as nice as the other Pequa's.

North New Hyde Park: Nicer and more Asiany version of normal New Hyde Park

Northport: Quiet cute quaint well-off north shore town

North Valley Stream: Nicer version of Elmont... large caribbean middle class

North Wantagh: All-white middle class suburbia with weird Levitt houses...extension of Levittown.

Most nice to less nice:(in my personal opinion)
Northport>North Hills>N.Merrick>N.Great River>N.Massapequa>N.Bellmore>N.Babylon=N.New Hyde Park>N.Wantagh>N.Valley Stream=N.Lindenhurst>N.Amityville>N.Bay Shore>N.Bellport

Most of those sound accurate. The one I think is wrong (or maybe I'm wrong):

I thought that Northampton was a poor area, and that it's the area with a Riverhead mailing address that is south of the Peconic River and is really in the town of Southampton. Or am I wrong?

I'm guessing that North Lindenhurst is the area with a Lindenhurst mailing address that is not part of the incorporated village.

Nevermind, I mixed up the Hamptons.

I know Hampton Bays is the least affluent of the Hampton's.

North Hampton is nothingness/woods pretty much

Wikipedia shows Northampton being less affluent than Hampton Bays. Not saying it's necessarily accurate.

Yes, you're right. It's the area along Straight Path near the LIRR tracks...small quiet but nondescript area.

North Massapequa is nicer than North Great River. I've lived in both. NGR is on both sides of Connetquot Ave, north of Sunrise. It borders CI. The portion I lived in had an Islip Terrace mailing address, but was considered NGR.

Great River (south of Sunrise) is nicer than North Massapequa.

Also, this was a battle of Suffolk norths. North Massapequa is in Nassau.

Suffolk is Nassau.
Nassau is Suffolk.
Long Island IS Long Island.

Jokes aside, I think in general her list is a bit skewed towards Nassau. North Lindenhurst is nicer than North Valley Streem, and definitely much nicer than North Amityville. Buy her descriptions were spot on for all of them.

It's sometimes hard to compare Nassau and Suffolk areas with each other
