Those iron gates will last a lifetime with some maintenance. The wood gate will last 10-15 years as long as you power wash and stain them every year unless someone kicks them or backs a car into them.

If I don't like my black iron gates now, maybe I can just replace them for newer, more modern ones.
(or any wooden fences/gates?) Right now, we have black iron noisy gates. Blech.
