If an inspector performs inspection of what they believe might be a multi-family occupancy in a single-family home, and if no violations are found, will they keep coming back or snooping around? What if the same nosey neighbor insists on making continuous reports because they have nothing better to do? Will the Town advise the nosy neighbor that the issue has been resolved or will they keep coming with each new complain?

You don't say which town you live in but in TNH it is the code enforcer that inspects for code violations ( multi-family occupancy in a SF home) as opposed to a building inspector who might check the deck. Now a building inspector checking that same deck might pick up a violation and inform the code enforcer who will then come to see for himself.

If you are the victim of a nosy neighbor eventually the town will stop sending the inspector but you still have a problem with the neighbor that is not going away.
