Default Help me find the right neighborhood...

Looking to move from the city to LI - with 2 small kids, we could use some space!

What we are looking for:

- Price approx $1.5M
- lot size approx 1/3 acre to 1 acre
- good public school system
- not too long a trip into Penn Station
- nice, peaceful kid-friendly community

What do you recommend?

Thanks for the help!

If you are looking for a beach community you will find soemthing nice in Long Beach/Point Lookout. It is a 50-55 minute trip on the LIRR to Penn.

What kind of neighborhood are you looking for...higher end, middle class, etc.?

Not 100%, but I think to get into a "top" area, I doubt $1.5m will get you an acre. I could be wrong, of course, but just a thought.

My favorites areas in Nassau are:
1) Garden City
2) Manhasset
3) East Williston
4) Rockville Centre
5) Roslyn (Village, Estate, Harbor, etc.)

All nice areas, good schools, nice downtowns, close to trains and NYC.

I won't bore the rest with why I love Garden City. You can PM me or search for that.

Good luck. Let us know if you need more specifics.

Actually...you may not be able to afford Oyster Bay for 1.5.

Go with Garden City then.
Im not a fan of Mid island...but GC man be the exception to the rule.
(Provided Hempstead doesnt get any worse...can it?)

OB is much more affordable, OB Cove is most certainly not.
