Say it aint so Steve Levy
Steve,
I 've supported you since day one but this is unacceptable.
I don't give a rats ass how qualified an individual is.It is wrong for someone to collect retirement on a positon they are currently being paid for.
Fix it....or lose the Conservative vote.
I am very disappointed in you.

"Alan Schneider, Suffolk County's chief personnel officer, retired on Feb. 12 only to return to work the next day in the same job.
The move allowed Schneider to collect his $108,343 annual pension while drawing his yearly salary of $158,374 -- for a combined income of $266,717...."

"Schneider was first appointed personnel director of the Suffolk County Department of Civil Service 24 years ago and is currently serving a fifth term, which began on Feb. 13.
He is in charge of 120 county employees and his department ensures that local governments, including towns, villages, libraries and fire districts, follow New York State civil service laws when they hire workers.
Schneider said that in the fall of 2006, several months before his fourth six-year term expired, he discussed with Kevin Law, a top Levy deputy, his plan to retire, collect his pension and then come back to work.
"I could have stayed home and collected two-thirds of my pay. It doesn't make sense for me to continue to work," Schneider said. "Kevin said he understood that and he said he would try to work it out."
Eventually, Levy approved the arrangement. Among the benefits, he said through his spokesman, is that that Suffolk saves about $33,000 because the county doesn't have to contribute to Schneider's pension and other benefits."
Isn't that mighty white of him? Saving us $33K while he takes in 2 paychecks.
Whatta guy.

It seems that most/all of the names mentioned in the article were those of county employees. Does anyone know if this type of thing occurs on the township level, as well? I imagine it does, especially given the track record of town corruption in recent years (think Babylon, Islip, Brooklyn). I can think of another form of salary stealing on the township level, which is payment for services not rendered. I can't think of a single time when someone from my local town hall was even marginally helpful on a concern, or even courteous, for that matter. I called just yesterday, to relay a concern, and of course got voice mail, to which I have not received a response.

That is B.S. That should be illegal. This is the crap that really kills our taxes not teachers and cops. If he wants to work after retireing , get a job as a cart boy at king kullen for 7.50 an hour like the rest of the retired community that cant even pay there bills. This bozo milks us all and they let him ,bull crap this has gotta stop. We have retired people moving because there crappy ss and pension cant pay the taxes and utilities here on the island but we let this a** clown suck down a pension and a full salary. I am pissed sorry folks , this is just wrong. If he does leave the job, it will probably wind up going to someone in his family too.
