Liebman's on W 235th street in Riverdale, Bronx. They have the sloppy wet pastrami and corned beef you talk of. so does the Carnegie Deli on 7th Avenue and 55th street in Manhattan. The Stage Deli probably does too a few doors down
also Loessers in W 231 street in Kingsbridge is more like a mom and pop place the corned beef and pastrami isn't as sloppy wet as Liebmans tho and the portions not as generous
a place I miss is Wolf's deli restaurant on 57th and 6th in Manhattan. I think it closed in the late 90's. ditto on a place on 6th Avenue near 56th I can't recall the name
You mention South Shore. Try Bellcrest in Bellmore. Had the pastrami and corned beef on Saturday. Awesome if you ask me. Been going there for many years.
Miss Wolfies in Merrick. Was surprised to see they were closed when we moved back. Authentic Jewish delis? Not sure if there are any of those left on LI. If you want the basic Pastrami or Corned Beef Bellcrest is pretty darn good. Would love some really good pickled herring.
I never checked, but I'm sure Fairway Market (jewish and italian oriented, and Kosher) in Plainview (a very jewish area) has most or all of those items. I can tell you that their bagels are the ONLY bagels I've ever had anywhere that remind me of what I used to buy in the Bronx from a jewish baker in Co-Op City. The taste and texture is incredible!! God, I LOVE that store!!!

Pastrami Plus on Hempsteak Tpke in Levittown. It's a little hole in the wall in a strip mall but the owner is authentic, having come up working at Grabsteins in Canarsie. The sandwichs are not stacked crazy high like Katz's or Stage in the city (I guess cause it's hard to sell a $17 sandwich in Levittown) but the pastrami, corned beef and brisket are some of the best I've found. I've had Ben's brisket. It's a sorry joke. Dry, chewy. More like mediocre roast beef. Pastrami King in Merrick isn't too bad. Much bigger, classier joint and nicer for a dinner out with family. Oh well. If you're gonna have high blood pressure, might as well get it from a good pastrami on rye!
