Water crossing Montauk in Islip isn't saying much. The bay and canals
Waters actually hit Montauk by the middle school. High tide this evening is the big thing to watch out for.

CBS showing the Massapequa FD rescuing people who are trapped in their houses. The residents stayed put because they didn't see flooding like this during Irene.

Wading River beaches gone. LI Sound looks like the ocean on a bad day. Roads up there flooded. One garage more than half under water. This, at noon today, was much worse than Irene at her peak.

Yes- And Sandy hasn't even hit us yet. :-(

Unlike some of the naysayers, I do not believe that this storm was overhyped at all. Sandy is a real biotch.

The center is moving a bit more quickly now...if this acceleration holds up, it'll reach the NJ coast by 7-8pm and may allow the wind direction to shift sooner. That will help hold down water levels on tonights high tide cycle. It may save a foot or two of storm surge height.

Water went over the runways at LGA ah hour ago...amazing to see.
