can anyone tell me if this is accepted behavior all over the island. I live to this community "nassau shores", the properties are mostly up scale, the tax's pretty steep, in other words the neighborhood is pretty much made up of middle to upper economic class educated people. it just seems that all of them have only one thing on their minds, THEMSELVES!! after veiwing video's massapequa hall of shame #1 and #2 on youtube where these jerks won't even stop for my neighbors kids school bus i decided to spend a whole 30 minutes filming the same area. I suppose each of these drivers thinks its only them who have an excuse to disregard the stop signs, The point isn't the traffic signs, we each know right from wrong and have to answer for our actions. its the lack of respect for each other thats become the "norm" in the neighborhood I'm attempting to adress. is it just here?

If you were filming at 9pm I bet there would be cars flying through there. Unfortunately this is the way most LIers drive and it's not just there. You are correct.

I think your problem stems from your failure to adjust your expectations.
Expect NOTHING from other's and you'll seldom be disappointed.

This is no different than any other stop sign intersection on Long Island (or most places probably)...unfortunately "pausing" in this manner has become the norm.

Yes, I agree, this is at the very least, a LI phenomenon. I live on the north shore and it's like stop signs are invisible. OTOH, there's a traffic signal every 50 feet (as in ridiculously close) or so on the main roads, so maybe this has something to do with it.

On business trips to Northern Cal and some other western cities, I noticed drivers were more attentive to the road signs and generally in less of a rush.

You're absolutely right, but sadly, this is everywhere, not just in your neighborhood. I live in Franklin Square and see this all up and down Franklin Ave, NHP Road and on Hempstead.

Maybe if the NCPD enforced the laws it would help.

When they find out the county no longer has enough money to pay them due to lack of tax revenue, they will then focus their attention on enforcing all fee-bringing laws and maybe save someone's life. But first, they have to turn a blind eye to all those PBA card holding drivers and say "it has zero value". - good luck with that one.

This video was shot a while ago and has already been posted on C-D under a different screen name. Look at how green everything is and the spring time daffodils on the corner -- this is at least 5 months old.
