Just wondering what others are doing for their pets. I have 2 cats, and have always had 2 large crates with beds, litter box and a food/water in a bag, ready to go. we are not leaving our place just north of Montauk Highway and Nassau/Suffolk county border. If I had to evacuate, I think I would be ready to go to a place that would accept them with us.

Our dog is sensing something. She's gone into her crate a few times, which is where she goes when something frightens her. We are in a Storm Surge Zone, but on north shore (Roslyn) and we were told we are not to evacuate. If we had to go to a shelter it would be a big problem - my partner is allergic to dogs & cats, so we couldn't go to one where they allow pets. But since we have a pet (A hairless dog, thus no allergy issues) we'd have to go to a pet friendly shelter. (Ditto hotels). Catch-22.

We are very very close to the water - hempstead harbor is maybe 100 feet from our apt building. Hoping being on 3rd floor will be OK. But where do the dogs go to do their business if there's a couple of feet of water on the ground!?!

Puppy piddle pads in the bathroom work.

My dog won't poop at all. I don't really know what to do because I'm scared she will go in the house at some point tonight since she hasn't gone at all since this morning. We've taken her out every hour but she just pees quickly and runs inside, guess she's too scared to stay out and poop. Any tips? We tried putting her in her crate (I hate putting her in there) because she won't poop in there, but she just started whaling and I couldn't handle it so I took her out and am just hoping she doesn't go in the house.

Nope - she just won;t use them.
Have tried in the past - all she does with them is chew them up.

She managed to get out & do her business earlier tonite though. But she's definitely scared tonight with the wind, and I guess the low pressure. Hiding under bed or in her crate - going back & forth.
