Most of my neighborhood doesn't have power and while I was outside walking my dog, I had a conversation with some of my neighbors that are outside trying to charge their phones in their cars. They're pretty much all starving and besides from making some peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, they are wondering where they can go to cook some food since their stoves aren't working and lots of them don't have grills. Aside from me throwing a BBQ for everyone I can't think of what to do. It made me think; what restaurants are open today? If you know of a restaurant that's open list it here and maybe it'll help some of us without power!

Don't know where you live but my sister said everything on 7th St in Garden City is open. She met people from all over this morning.

The fact that no one has food available to eat the day after a hurricane is inexcusable. Seriously. What do they plan on doing for the next 10 days?

BTW if anyone has a gas stove you can light the burners on top even if the power is out.

I have no idea. I stocked up on a bunch of food that I can make in case my power did go out but since it didn't, I gave it to my neighbor across the street who lost power. It should last him a few days hopefully, but he has a big family so they will probably go through it quickly.

I don't understand how people can not try to take precautions and I guess now they learned their lesson, but I still feel bad for them.

I always laugh when I see people stocking up before a major weather event and most of what they buy is frozen/refrigerated.. Does it ever cross their minds that power will most likely go out..

I married a nice Italian girl. At any given moment - we have enough food in the house to feed the entire neighborhood for at least a week.

All fast food restaurants on DPA in North Babylon & Deer Park are open: the North Babylon McDonald's, Panera, Wendy's, Checker's, Taco Bell was expected to be open 'by dinner time'. Not sure about the Deer Park McDonald's or Taco Bell, Burger King, White Castle, or Five Guys as I did not venture that far north. Buffalo Wild Wings might be open.

Green Cactus was closed as was Applebee's.

The lines to get into these places were out the door.

That's my sister-in-law. She is one of the lucky ones and has power. Right now she has a house full of friends and neighbors. She is making a huge meal for them and they can all take hot showers
