I've posted here previously about where to live, but that's getting the cart a bit ahead of the horse. I will most likely need to have somewhere to stay 3-4 days a week that will allow me to commute into Queens - Glendale specifically. 30 minute commute at most, if it can be done. I'm shooting for $600-$800/mo with utilities included.
A room share / apartment is probably my best bet, and I've been looking on craigslist and have a couple leads, but what else is there on the island?
Funny, that at 35 with a family, I'm considering rooming somewhere again. It's just me looking- they'll stay here until school is out in June - and I'll be driving home - and working from home a bit - each week.
FWIW, clean, non smoker, very limited drinker, non partyer, etc. I'll be working a lot, esp. since I won't have the family with me.
Any reason you don't want to find something in Queens vs LI? Thats why I asked. Are you planning to get back to CT via ferry or heading North through Queens, etc?
Our long term intention is to live on LI when the family gets here, so I was thinking
1) it might be cheaper
2) it would free me up to look around for housing and get to know different areas on the island
Queens is not out of the question, for a room / apartment, though.
