Wow, I thought oil prices were on the trend downward. When I capped at $3.70, I thought that was a little too high. In retrospect, it looks like its working out real well.
I'm capped at $3.799 through next July, with a discounted service contract. I was able to use rates for NYPIRG fuel buying group as a bargaining chip with a firm that I've used for 25 years. I know I could do better on price, but the company I use is outstanding for customer service, while some others mentioned in this thread have scads of complaints on the Better Business Bureau web site.
If you're a longtime customer there, why not talk to someone about the problem? If they want to keep you, maybe they can do some negotiating. The oil business is extremely competitive these days. Another option for you might be to convert to gas when your contract is up. I recently did some research and found that gas on LI is 40% cheaper, so it shouldn't take that long to recoup conversion costs. I believe someone has started a thread on oil-gas conversion.
did call them today, they agreed to "correct the price" down to $3.99/gal.
Realize this is much higher than other posts but I do love their customer service.
No gas mains in my neighborhood- we are stuck with oil here.
Thanks again for your replies.
No but u can finance it at 2%. use the savings on you heating costs to pay the loan in three years. You can get also tax credits. As long as you make sure to use the new found money to pay the loan.......not on strippers an booze.

For $3.799, I, too get great customer service. It's why I've had the same company for 25 years. However, even though I've been a loyal customer, the company still sent me a contract with pricing that I knew was too high. I don't know why companies don't give loyal customers the best deal in the first place, but it is what it is.
Before you sign next year's contract, call NYPIRG's fuel buying group and find out their deal. Then, either sign up with NYPIRG or use their figures to bargain with your oil company. And, of course, ask people on this forum.
