Great Pictures, I enjoyed looking at them.
I also have a question.
First let me say, that my husband and I are sending our son to see the US Open, next June 2009.
I do not know anything about the area, but I need some help for lodging.
I would like something relatively close, 5 or so miles from Bethpage State Park.
I want something very nice, no cheap motel.
A very nice hotel.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks, musiclady

Courtyard Republic Airport Farmingdale
Huntington Hilton
Holiday Inn Plainview
Four Points Sheraton Plainview
Melville Marriott
All of those are within 5 miles or so and are roughly listed closest to furthest from the park.
The nicest hotel in the area would be the Garden City Hotel, although it's a little outside of the 5 mile radius.
Make your reservations very soon, rooms will be booked well in advance.

Yes, it's about 15 miles, but it would be decently quick drive.
This may also be a nice option...the Inn at Fox Hollow:

Shrine of Our Lady of the Island - Eastport
If anyone is looking for a peaceful place to visit and/or pray, try the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island located in Eastport. More information at: Shrine of Our Lady of the Island. I went there yesterday and took a few pictures. I think these turned out pretty nice - hope you enjoy.

Eastport is very quiet. Driving out that way is quite pleasant - it's too bad people can't afford to take casual drives anymore just to enjoy the scenery. Or maybe some can - - - although most are speeding through Eastport on their way to the Hamptons!
