The Village of East Hills and the Hamlet of Roslyn Heights are two separate communities that, at least partially, share a non-conforming postal zone ("Roslyn Heights, NY 11577"):

East Hills is a village (incorporated in 1931) partly in the Town of North Hempstead and partly in the Town of Oyster Bay, in Nassau County.

East Hills is one of those many villages and hamlets on Long Island where none of the places in the community have the village name in their mailing address:

Places within the Village of East Hills are in the "Roslyn, NY 11576", the "Roslyn Heights, NY 11577", the "Greenvale, NY 11548" or the "Old Westbury, NY 11568" postal zone.

Roslyn Heights is a hamlet in the Town of North Hempstead, in Nassau County.

Roslyn Heights is one of those villages and hamlets communities on Long Island where many of the places (about 1 out of every 2 places) with the community name in their mailing address are not in the hamlet:

Those places with a “Roslyn Heights, NY” mailing address that are not in the Hamlet of Roslyn Heights are in the Village of North Hills and the Village of East Hills; and, at the same time, there are places in the Hamlet of Roslyn Heights that have a “Williston Park, NY 11596” mailing address.

A short list of what? Villages and hamlets that are in the service area of one or more postal zones that have other than the name of the village or hamlet? That's a l-o-n-g list!

Nassau was all Queens to everyone until the eastern three quarters of Queens County (the Town of North Hempstead, the Town of Hempstead and the Town of Oyster Bay) seceded and formed Nassau County on January 1, 1899, a year after the western-quarter of Queens County (the City of Long Island City, the Town of Newtown, the Town of Flushing, the Town of Jamaica and the Rockaway peninsula of the Town of Hempstead) became part of the new New York City on January 1, 1898.
