Barnum Woods is simply just an area of East Meadow- they have the same zip- Barnum Woods is not a seperate town.

Ya it is...but I mean does it have it's own zip and post office or anything? I thought it was just an area of another town- huntington maybe? i dunno...could be wrong.

Barnum Island? That for sure doesn't have it's own zip or post office...it's an area of island park.

Barnum Island is a hamlet, Island Park is a village, and they both share the same postal zone, "Island Park, NY 11558", with the Hamlet of Harbor Isle, and they are all in the Town of Hempstead.

technically though, hempstead, north hempstead, oyster bay, islip & brookhaven...are the only towns...?

They are (there are 3 towns on Nassau County and 10 towns in Suffolk County), but because the USPS misleads people by incorrectly claiming that the last line of a place's mailing address is "city/town, state and ZIP Code", there is a great confusion, with the result that people erroneously refer to hamlets as towns, and then have to erroneously refer to towns as townships.

The last line of a place's mailing address is actually "postal city/town, postal state and ZIP Code".

There's a bunch on the South Fork that I never knew existed.....Napeague, Springs, Northwest Harbor, etc. Not sure if those places have post offices or not, but I've never heard of them before a few months ago.

I was gonna post those maps in here originally, guess I should have cuz that thread was deleted

There's also a Nassau County version available online, but it's much harder to navigate.

Step 1: Go to Land Record Viewer
Step 2: Click on "Property Search", click the "I accept the conditions..." button.
Step 3: Click on "MAP" in the top bar

From there you can zoom in/out. Green = village, Yellow = unincorporated (hamlet), and Brown = City. I think if I'm bored later I'll photoshop that map and break it down by towns, like the Suffolk ones are.
