Is the preserve, part of Brookwood Townhomes on the same side as the 7 eleven (new section)? If it is, the feedback should be good. The residents from the townhomes/houses (original part) usually have very good feedback about the community.

Visit the Parents for Megan's Law website and just confirm that there aren't any registered sex offenders in this particular location as there are quite a few in Coram.

Longwood is not bad at all. Some people do not like minorities, which is basically the only reason people say stay away. Look at the test scores and you will see Longwood is generally middle of the road for Long Island, which is not bad at all.

Look at Longwood High School as having two schools... Students who do poorly are basically kept sperately from kids who do well. Different lunch periods, different classes, different Gym. Their grade schools are really area specific as some have better ratings then others (and this usually goes hand in hand with the general area around the schools that the kids come from.).

Good sports program (although, for their size, i woudl have thought they would be a bit stronger, but they do put money into sports and music).

Good after school programs (in the high school level).

Keep in mind, i am really only familar with the High School. I moved to Ridge about 2 years ago. PM me if you have any specific questions.

My wife grew up in Coram (went to Newfield) and she turned out great. You can agonize all you want about schools and neighborhoods but in the end it's all about parenting IMO.

Good luck OP!

Newfield HS is part of the Middle Country SD. The part of Coram the OP is looking at is in the LONGWOOD SD.
