Has anyone tries to get a pistol permit in Nassau lately? (Hempstead: 2014, crime)

If you are looking for carrying it for protection that ain't happening legally according to nys bs constitution breaking law, even though the constitution can not be overruled they continue to break that, the only permit you are may get is for target or hunting purposes and NC is getting like NYC and there betting you'll quit before they give you one.
Not looking to carry. Only for target shooting. Don't even know if I will buy a gun. It's so ridiculous that you can't even shoot a pistol without waiting 18 months. I just want to go shooting with my dad using his guns.

Even gun stores will generally not allow you to handle handguns without a permit.
