Info on a Mastic death
Hey there Mastic Beach Residents,
Anyone familiar with the memorial to a young girl who died on Rivierea Drive? There are flowers and a photo and some notes attached to a street sign right across from the house for sale at 8 Riviera Drive. It looks to me that the tragedy is a fairly recent one. I would like to know if it was auto related or otherwise. Also, any one know if that road is dangerous for pedestrians? Does the girl's death have anything to do with the house going up for sale? It's touching and has been on my mind. Thinking of looking at that house for sale. Of course I would like some insight on the incident first.
Thanks, Noot

Hey Glad2,
Went back there today. Noticed that the "Adopt-a-Highway" sign actually has her name on it. Did a Newsday search, but came up w/ nothing. It seems she passed in April of 2006. Obit's are only stored for one year.
Perhaps it happened elsewhere, and that was just the available place for her memorial sign to go up, or perhaps the placement of the sign was at her family's request. I think I'll just ask a neighbor next time I go there to investigate. Thanks for your reply.

the deaths happened 2003/2004. it was the brooks family, jennifer, her mother and her brother were in a car coming home from a football game. jennifer was a rockette and her brother played football. as they were turning onto the parkway some lady ran the light or something like that and smashed into their car. jennifer and her mother were killed, but her brother remained in a coma. i havent heard much since then, but i went to hs with them and they were really sweet people.

2003 September 10
Another mother, another daughter killed. Another son left fighting for his life.
Another aftermath of another tragic car accident. Another testament to life - and
